The NFL’s online league systems were once the envy of college football.
But that era is now in its 20th year.
Now, with teams spending millions of dollars on online features, many of which are aimed at helping their players grow and develop, the league is looking to move into the next phase of its evolution.
“There’s definitely a lot of talk about the NFL getting into the cloud,” said Ben Lang, senior director of business development for league operations at ESPN.
“I think it’s going to be a big thing for us.
We’re looking at the league from the cloud.”NFL.com is set to go live on July 6, 2017, just over a year after the league launched.
Its goal is to provide a more streamlined, streamlined experience for fans.
There’s no longer the need for fans to log in to the league’s website to watch games.
The league also plans to move away from using an in-person stadium as a hub for its online games.
Instead, NFL.com will be a place fans can go to find all their favorite teams’ games and stream them live.
It will also feature a live chat channel that will allow fans to chat with coaches, players and other staff members, as well as with other league officials.
It’s a big step toward giving fans more access to the game, Lang said.
The league will also open its own analytics system for the players.
It was recently announced that the league will be using data from the league itself to develop player-analytics programs that can be used to analyze performance and predict future production.
And, Lang believes, it will soon have its own dedicated analytics department.
“We’re really looking to make sure we’re putting all the data that we can, and that it’s shared with the league and with the players, so that we know exactly what is working and what isn’t,” Lang said of the league-owned analytics.
“There’s a lot that’s possible with analytics, and we’re going to have to continue to invest in it to make it a big part of our league.”
A big part.
The NFL is the NFL, after all, and Lang said he doesn’t want the league to be known for just being the NFL.
“If you want to be recognized as a great NFL, you need to be very good at what you do,” Lang added.
“We’re going out and making it very easy to be successful.”NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that the new platform will be available in 2017.
It’ll also be the leagues first foray into the Internet of Things.
The teams that make the league play live games will use smart devices like cameras and other sensors to track and measure the players and the play that goes on.
And the league plans to add analytics tools for the teams and their players.
The game will have a lot more of a social element.
NFL.TV is one of the many streaming services that will offer live games.
ESPN’s College GameDay and the NFL Network are also expected to join the fray in the near future.
The NFL has been slowly rolling out its online game-playing features.
It launched its official social network in April of 2016.
It also added a weekly football podcast, the College GamePass, to its roster of services.
And it released a live streaming service called NFL Live that launched in February 2017.
The new platform, Lang hopes, will give fans a more direct and personal connection to the teams that are playing live games, something that’s been missing from the NFL for decades.
The move toward the cloud has been a big priority for the league.
Its new commissioner, Roger Goodell, is known for embracing cloud technology as the solution to problems in the online gaming space.
But the league also sees the move toward cloud as something that could potentially help the NFL be a more valuable partner in the global economy.
“I think cloud and the internet are going to help the league become a much more important player,” Lang told CNN.
“That is something that the NFL has always been concerned about.”
