The Steam community has been plagued by a constant stream of annoying games over the past year, but the Steam service has yet to fully address the problem.
Now, a new feature is giving Steam users an easy way to remove unwanted game files from the service.
In the past, Steam has offered a few ways to remove files that are deemed to be spam, including by deleting them entirely and removing the Steam client entirely.
Now the Steam community is using the new Steam Server Status tool to get around that issue.
The new feature, called Steam Server Info, lets users filter a Steam client list for any game that may be considered spam.
For example, if the game is listed as spam, the user can simply click the “Filter by Server” button on the Steam server list.
The result will show a list of the Steam clients that are running the game.
In addition to that, the Steam Server status tool lets the user select the specific game to remove.
Users can then remove the file by using the appropriate actions in the Steam Client Configuration tool.
For instance, if a user is using a Windows version of Steam, they can remove the Steamclient.exe file by clicking the “Remove Steam Client” button in the Properties menu.
Users may also click on “Remove files” and remove the files manually by clicking on the “Delete” button at the bottom of the list.
With the new feature on the way, Valve has started to roll out the removal tool to other platforms.
Users will be able to disable the feature on Windows, Mac, Linux and even Android.
However, Steam users will need to first delete the entire client list from the Steam servers list, which will not work on Windows.
Users also need to click on the delete button to delete the client list completely.
If you’re looking to remove a specific file, it is recommended to use the Remove file dialog box, which is located in the upper right hand corner of the game list.
This feature is also being rolled out to other game engines as well, including Unreal Engine, Unity and CryEngine.
