Steam is reportedly taking the gloves off and letting people use the term “soft-serve” to describe clothing that uses a similar manufacturing process as American Express’s.
The service has been under fire recently for using the term, with users complaining that the word makes them sound like they don’t care about the quality of their own products.
American Express has reportedly apologized for using “soft serves” and has started to roll out its own “soft services” that are designed to avoid the term.
However, many users have still expressed their confusion, and have suggested that the service should change the word to “soft service” to better describe what it is.
“Soft-serves are just clothing with the same manufacturing processes, so the term soft service should probably be changed to soft-servers,” Reddit user karosos wrote.
“Soft-service means something different from a traditional soft service.
I’m not sure what the ‘soft service’ label is referring to anymore.””
Soft service means clothing that has been manufactured with an inferior product manufacturing process,” another user wrote.
However, some people seem to agree that the term is still appropriate for the term at large.
“I just used soft service to describe a soft service that had some of the same qualities as an American Express service, but with better quality,” one user wrote in response to the suggestion.
“I’d rather have a brand that makes clothing that is quality than a brand with a ‘soft-service’ label.”
Other users pointed out that the brand that has long been the standard for soft-service clothing brands is, in fact, American Express.
“The American Express soft-services are better,” another commenter wrote.
The change to the service is being described as a “small tweak” to a “larger change.”
However, Reddit user bhayneswong suggested that other services like the Steam service and American Express might need to do the same.
“There’s been a lot of talk on Reddit and social media that American Express is not doing this change,” Bhayneswaro wrote.
He continued: “This is the first time we’ve seen a change like this in a long time, so I hope that this is the last time we see this change.”
